Minister of agriculture
Hon Japhet Hasunga (MP) returned in the country yesterday dawn (Sept 8, 2019)
after finishing his six-day official visit in Israel which started on Sept 1,
2019 and finished on Sept 7, 2019.
In Ben Gurion
international airport, Tel Aviv city Hon Hasunga was given a farewell by his
host, Tanzanian ambassador in Israel, H.E. Mr. Job Daudi Masima.
In that visit Hon Hasunga
participated on the graduation ceremony of Agro Studies which was held in
Jerusalem city. The ceremony consisted 1600 youth from more than 12 countries
whereby 45 were Tanzanians, he also gave certificate to those 45 graduates.
He said that the
government of Tanzania has the fertile land which has not touched for
agriculture, so this is the right time for those youth to be given the land to
show by practicing what they got from their studies in Israel.
Hon Hasunga said that it
is the right time for thise students to use the skills they got from quality
methods and currently technology in developing irrigation agriculture to
educate others when they come back to their country.
He said those chances of
agricultural studies in Israel has given the opportunities to those experts to
add efficacy in agricultural sector, so when they come back in the country they
should change the agriculture to be of more beneficial in production.
He also said that the
major problem in agricultural sector in Tanzania is small scale production
which has no benefit whereby farmers use great power but the results are very
small. Therefore, he insisted that, when they come back in the country they
have to educate farmers to concentrate on quality agricultural methods, the
proper use of agricultural inputs, fertilizer and also the use of quality seeds
to benefit the farmer.

In that visit in Israel, Tanzania's Minister agriculture of Hon Japhet Hasunga (MP) met and spoke with minister of agriculture and village development of Israel Hon Uri Yehuda Ariel HaCohen and they agreed that governments of these two countries will develop agricultural sector especially, in research, benefit in production and technology.
In that meeting which was
also attended by Ambassador of Tanzania in Israel H.E. Mr. Job Daudi Masima, Hon Hasunga thanked the
government of Israel for giving Tanzania 100 chances of learning about agricultural
sector to youth through the Agro studies program.
Minister Hasunga in that
meeting explained the theme of the Tanzanian government which is led by the
president of Republic of Tanzania H.E. Hon Dr John Pombe Magufuli, of helping
youths who came back home after studies by giving them the basic needs including
land which is in the area which will help them to develop themselves.
Along with that Minister
Hasunga talked about the area which might attract investors from Israel to
invest in Tanzania by giving the statistics of size of the fertile land,
presence of water and climate that facilitates the growth of different kind of
crops.
Speaking on behalf of the
government of Israel, Minister of agriculture and village development Hon Uri
Yehuda Ariel HaCohen assured minister Hasunga that the government of Israel is
ready to sign the memorandum of understanding, so the government of Tanzania
will have to present as quick as possible their needs especially in the crops
which are important to start for the market of Israel.
Hon Hasunga invited Ms
Sivan to invest in Tanzania as well as to help in various areas. He said that
the company should strengthen cooperation with Tanzanian government to continue
to solve some of the problems of the citizens alongside with strengthening
their program to offer solution of Israel and skills for those who need to live
in African villages.
The minister Hasunga
assured Ms Ya'ari that Tanzania is a good country in investment and a safe
place to live while the government led by Hon president Dr John Pombe Magufuli
progressing with the effort to improve the life of Tanzanians and improving the
national economy.
However, he congratulated
the company for a good job they do in the African countries in the solar energy
including their contribution in clean water programs and helping orphans
centres.
He said that Tanzania is
a safe and stable place in investment, as the government has initiated the
centre for investment (TIC) which is a primary institute with the task to
initiate, insist, improve and facilitate investment.
In his side founder and
managing director of Innovation Africa company Ms Ya'ari speaking on the
meeting, accepted the minister Hasunga's request to increase the possibility to
help Tanzania by saying by the beginning of September she will visit Tanzania
to classify the investment areas.
Hon Hasunga said that Tanzania
has huge areas that fit the irrigation agriculture, including Rufiji area where
the construction of Nyerere electricity dam is in progress and soon after the
its completion there is the expectation of having an average of 150,000 hectares
for agriculture.
Minister Hasunga also met
and talk with some of the Tanzania's students who participated in the
agricultural training in Israel. They
met in the Jacob's livestock keeping farm to see how much they had benefited
with the training.

In that visit, minister of agriculture of Tanzania Hon Japhet Hasunga met and discussed with six members of directors of Mashav institute of the ministry foreign affairs of Israel. The meeting was also attended by managing director of Agro studies institute Mr Yaron Tamir.

In that official meeting,
which was held in the ministry of foreign affairs of Israel office which is in
the number 9 street Yitzhak Rabin in Jerusalem city. Minister Hasunga thanked
the government of Israel for accepting the request of united republic of
Tanzania president Hon John Pombe Magufuli to increase the number of students
who participate in agricultural training of Agro studies in a year period from
45 to currently 100 students.
The meeting had an
intense discussion on the way to improve the relationship between the two
countries, especially in the research areas, product value adding and the way
to increase the size if farms if beneficial agriculture.
On his side, the managing
director of Mashav institute, Ambassador Gil Haskel said that the government of
Israel accepted the minister of agriculture Hon Hasunga request by saying
Israel is ready to cooperate with Tanzania to improve the agricultural sector
from subsistence agriculture to business ones.

He said that the government of Israel accepted to increase the number of youths from Tanzania who attend training in Israel. Also they will widen the chance for experts including extension officers of Tanzania to visit Israel to improve their ability in their daily routine.

Also the ambassador of
Tanzania in Israel H.E. Mr Job Daud Masima said that meetings he did with
minister of agriculture in his official visit in Israel have given the picture
to have a common thinking to how the trainings help Tanzanian youths.
The managing director of
Agro studies institute, Mr Yaron Tamir said that Tanzanian students who
participated in the training gave a good cooperation during the all period of
training. So they need to go on with the knowledge they got to improve
agriculture in Tanzania.
He said that Tanzania
will continue benefiting from training opportunities offered in Israel, as
Israel is among the leading countries in agriculture research and development.
On the other step, minister
Hasunga received 60 Tanzanian youths who arrived in Israel to participate in
agricultural training of Agro studies for a year period while 40 others are
expected to arrive on Sept 11, 2019 to make a total of 100 youths.
